A lot of these songs have lyrics that I pulled from Victorian era poems. My favorites are Oscar Wilde (who really had an amazing way with the English language)
and Algernon Charles Swinburne, because he tended to write about sex, drugs and bizarre longing.
The lyrics for "down" were mainly taken from a peom called :"Bitter sweet" by J. G. Holland which can be found here:
The lyrics to "Oscar" are from a poem called:"The Ballad of Reading Gaol" by Oscar Wilde, which is why it's named Oscar. It's here:
The lyrics from serene are from a poem called:"Ilicet" by A.C. Swinburne, which can be found here:
*strangely enough, this page is part of an Aleister Crowley site,
and this poem was used in certain rites...I had no idea when I used it in the song...but very interesting.
